Dr. Iredell Campbell Wyatt,(1840-1914) son of Rev. William Henry Wyatt of Clay County Kentucky and father of Ulysses Simpson Wyatt was named after a neighbor of his family in Hawkins Co. Tenn.
Examination of the 1850 census confirms this as the source of his name. William Henry Wyatt (and Iredell) are listed on a 150 acre farm, number 025 for Hawkins Co. Tennessee in the census. Farm number 026 is the Stapleton's, Farm number 027 is the Brown's (parents of his mother Mary A. (Polly) Brown and farm number 028 is the Sizemore family (in-laws of the Browns) while farm number 058 of 1500 acres belongs to one Iredell Campbell and his wife Mary. According to his granddaughter Margret Ethel Wyatt (1903-1987) Iredell Campbell Wyatt was named after this neighbor and family friend.
