Stephen and Mabel Wyatt and their family are in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census for Vermilion County, Illinois.

In 1900 they are in Middle Fork Twp, Vermilion County: Steve Wyatt, 24, born Oct, 1876, is from Illinois, his father is from England and according to this census, his mother is from Illinois, not Indiana. Wife Mabel, 20, was born in May, 1880 in Illinois, her father is from Ohio, and her mother from Illinois. They have had two children, but only one is living in 1900 - son Herbert, born Feb. 1899.

Also, in 1900, in Middle Fork Twp, Vermilion County is 61 year old Richard Wyatt, Stephen's father. Richard's wife is named Lyddia, and she is 63. But, they have been married only 9 years so she is not Stephen's mother. Lyddia has had 10 children, five living in 1900, but none of these would be Richard's children. Martha has likely died. There are also two others living with Richard and Lyddia - Albert (19) and Otto (17) Dowling(?) - the last name is difficult to read. These two are listed as step-sons to Richard so they are probably two of Lyddia's 10 children from her previous marriage.

In 1910, Stephen and his family are living in Pembroke Township, Kankakee County. They have two additional children living with them, daughters Lydia and Jessie. Son Herbert is now 11, Lydia is 9, and Jessie is 7. Stephen and Mabel have been married 12 years, and Mabel has had seven children, but only these three are living. This census also says Stephen's mother is from Illinois.

In 1920, Stephen is listed as STEVE ABYATT in the Heritageqwest index. He is 44, wife Mabel E is 39. Herbie D is 20, Liddia B (new spelling) is 18, and Jessie P is 13. Stephen continues to list his mother as from Illinois. They have had three additional children - Clara C, 9, Stephen B, 6 (don't know if a Jr.), and James A, 4 3/12.

Also, going back to 1860 we find a Richard Wyatt, 17, living in Middle Fork Township, Vermilion County. He is a farm laborer and lives with J.C. Alexander and his family. Richard shows as born in England.

In 1880 we find Richard Wyatt, 40, his wife, Martha A, 38, and their children - Emma F, 13, Mary 6, and Stephen, 4. They live in Ross Township, Vermilion County.

I'm not a relation, but hopes this helps you some.

Harry Wyatt
