William:
The William Wyatt that I descend from was born in England, Virginia or Maryland about 1640. He was married to Diana Hickman. They had three sons, Joseph (ABT 1669), Nathaniel (ABT 1670), and another William (ABT 1671). See Donna Wyatt's tree on Rootsweb.
The ancestry of William Wyatt is not known, but his descendants have DNA which matches that of known descendants of Haute Wyatt, and the Sir Thomas'.
I was trying to determine if anyone had additional info on a William Wyatt I found on a Rootsweb lisiting that showed him born in Ireland in 1620, a son of Thomas Wyatt, a British refugee who himself was born in Ireland in 1595. Thomas was shown as a son of Sir George Thomas Wyatt who is a son of Sir Thomas the Younger, and the father of Haute Wyatt. The posting also indicated that William Wyatt came to Maryland on the ship Hopewell in 1635.
The listing for the William Wyatt born in Ireland is in Rootswebs "Stephanie's Roots" by Alfred Shumate, and also in two others - "Hardesty 3" and "Hardesty 4". These two postings are identical to the other so all three are probably by Alfred Shumate.
Your suggestion of my William being the father of John is interesting. My William was apparently in both Virgina and Maryland in the later 1600s. His wife, Diana Hickman was in the Northern Neck of Virginia in the 1660s and he may have met her and married here there. This has caused me to now speculate that Sir Dudley Wyatt may be William's father. Someone supposedly came forward to try to lay claim to Sir Dudley's interest in the Northern Neck Charter when it was renewed in 1669, but to no avail. So the Wyatt's claim to this land was lost. Sir Dudley, of course, is a great grandson of Sir Thomas the Younger.
If this William Wyatt was born in 1620, came to America in 1635, married Diana Hickman after 1666, then he very well could have fathered a child with an earlier wife in 1652
