Steven: I am still searching also and not getting anywhere. A few years ago I found a record for a George Woolf in Lawrence Co. Tenn. 1820 census. There is also a Simpson head of household residing in that county.

I had discounted this George because he had several children MORE than our George did. However---as you can see on your list of George's children, there is a gap of 11 years--1816 Tenn. to 1827 (Levi) in Preble Co., Ohio. This indicaates either there were three or four children who died or that there was more than one wife. If we assume that George had several more children who died in some sort of epidemic in the time frame of 1816-1823 or so then this could be our George. Do you have Ancestry? The record is there but my subscription just ran out.

And....I know everyone thinks George was born in Penn because the 1850 census says so, but there are so many errors on this family's census records, why couldn't this have been another. With no results after 30 years of hunting, I think we need to consider that George could have been born in Tenn. and not Penn.
