I have just read John Threlfall article on the english orgins of Edward Winn of Woburn. This article was in Mass Society of Genealogists Volume 30:2 pg 61-61. Mr Threfall states that Edward is the son of Thomas Whin and Mary () and was baptized at Soham, Cambridgeshire, England. The article also mentions other winn's unrelated to Edward.

There is no reference in his mother's will that states he is the edward we have been searching. It names a son edward but does not state that he was in New England.
So I do not agree with John's article that Edward was the son of Thomas and Mary ()Whin. My great uncle a descendant of Edward of Woburn. When he did his DNA anylsis it did not match any other WINN/WYNNE in the database. It said that he has the DNA of the SMOOT family. I have traced him to Edward of Woburn. There where no smoot families in new england until much later on. I am wondering now if i Edward was illegimate son of a smoot.
