Thanks for the reply Ken,

My link to the Wake County Motleys is Penelope Motley, who married Edward Lynn (my great X4 grandfather) in 1801. I have information on Edward's father, John, and some info on John's father, James Lynn Sr. I (and several others) have hit a brick wall at James Lynn Sr. I know that he was in the Wake County area as early as the 1750's and he died there in 1798, but I've never found his birth info or a name of his wife.

As far a Penelope goes, I know that her father was Captain John, born ca. 1734 in Essex Co. VA, and died 1811 in Warren Co. KY, married to Elizabeth Page, who died after 1808.

If you have any additional info about Penelope's ancestors, I'd be very interested in hearing about it. If you'd like, you can email me directly at rangeryoda@hotmail.com

Lastly, do you know if the Lynns, Motleys and Willoughbys all moved from NC to KY at the same time? I know that Edward and Penelope moved between 1806 and 1813, but I'm not sure about the other families. Do you know the reason for the move? The Lynns of this era were farmers so it might have been a matter of the grass being greener but if you have any other clues, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks again for your reply,

Bruce.
