There is no relatinship between CPT Thomas Willett (1610-1674) of Plymouth MA, Swansea RI and New Amsterdam. CPT Thomas Willett's male line failed in the third generation - there were no male heirs to care on the name. And even though number "pausible" genealogies claim that CPT Thomas Willett was the son of Andrew Willett, the English Divine of Barley, Herts., this is in error. CPT Thomas Willett was the son of a Puritan who had gone to Leiden, Holland, and was originally from Norwich, England.

Marinus Willett's line goes back to 1620. His ancestor was an English soldier in the employ of the Dutch at New Amsterdam. He was at the massacre at Pavonia, and died prematurely about 1646 leaving two young sons of which only one had male heirs.
