Margaret; A fair amount has been written about “John Wilcox of Hartford”, one of Hartfords Original Proprietors, accompanied Thomas Hooker from Newtown, MA (now Cambridge) in 1636. A great book to read, if you have not already found it, is “Middletown Upper Houses” by C. Collard Adams – it can be found in the Connecticut State Library in Hartford and the Russell Library in Middletown, CT, You will find a great deal of detail on the Wilcox family in it. You should also be aware of a “Supplement” to this book the only copy that I know of is at the Connecticut Historical Society in Hartford. This supplement contains valuable corrections to the book and additions not found in the original text. Another book “Hale, House”; Jacobus and Waterman. Also, the CT State Library in Hartford should be considered a source.

Briefly, the Wilcox family seat is in Bury, St. Edmunds (Suffolk) England. The earliest information that I have leads me to believe that in 1565 one Christopher Wilcox was born to ? & ?, married ? who produced a son, John b. 1595 in Bury, St. Edmunds; m. Oct. 12, 1615 Mary Wylshyre dau. of George Wylshyre and Philippa Thurgwood (m. April 25, 1589 at Terling, Essex, England). Mary produced, dau. Ann 1616; dau. Sarah 1618; son John II (John of Middletown, CT) 1620.

Your, “Sarah”, b 1618 in England; buried .Jan 15, 1690 in Hartford, CT (you can get a death certificate in Hartford); m. John Bidwell, (who d. Hartford 1687)
The Bidwell family has lived in Hartford, Windsor & South Windsor, CT
I have not gone deeper into Sarah’s family, sorry
John Wilcox
