My gggrandfather was a John Whyte born at Tayport, Fifeshire approx 1836. Parents Thomas Whyte (mariner) and Mary Black.
John was a mariner as well and was married in Sydney, Australia in 1867.
I have shipping records that seem to match to him up to March 1877 and his widdow remarried in 1878.
Interested in any informatio people may have on origins and if luckky death (NOT recorded in NSW?)
