I have researched McDowells and came across several White siblings who came together from TN (possibly Rhea Co, TN where one was married) to Lafayette Co, MO. The TN marriage was between Elizabeath Betsy White and John D Jones in 1816. The White siblings were in MO by 1820 when William White, brother of Elizabeth married a Nancy Nave (Wave?) in 1820 in Cooper Co, MO. William died in Oct 1822 and John D Jones was involved in administering his estate. John D Jones died in 1826. Elizabeth White Jones married second to Stephen Baxter, and she died about 1858 when her will was probated (will written 1855). They had a sister Nancy "Dolly" White who married Absalom Marshall and she died in 1897 at the age of 94. There is another sibling or uncle named Benjamin White. One source has the parent of Nancy as a William White. There is another William White that died in Lafayette in 1846. This could be the father or another related White family member. All of the White siblings appear to be born in TN. Mary Ann Polly White married Daniel McDowell in 1822. Daniel McDowell died in 1846 and his son said he was born in NC per the 1900 census. Daniel McDowell is in the census for 1830 and 1840 in Lafayette Co, MO and his age corresponds to a date of birth about 1790-1800.
I am looking for information about Jones, McDowell, White, Ledbetter families that lived in SC and migrated to GA, TN, and KY. The route of migration appears to be first to GA about 1800 and then to TN about 1800-1810 and then to KY from 1805-1820. If any of the above information fits your family, I would be interested in what additional information you have. Everything that I have found about the above White family and their marriages, offspring, etc is on my public family tree at ancestry under "Jones Family Tree of Caldwell Co, KY with roots in SC".
