Joyce....Not sure what you already have on Thaddeus White, so I will send most of what I could find. Here is his burial site. This is from www.findagrave.com. If you haven't used the site before, click on the tombstone photo to enlarge it. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=white&GScid=72392&GRid=12228422& -------------------------- These census records appear to show your Thaddeus with his birth family. The 1850 census is from an online site and the 1860 census is from Heritage Quest. 1850 Ware County, Georgia Census - Enumerated 14 November: All household members born in Georgia. Robert F. White, 30, farmer Susan White, 30 Thaddeus White, 11 Mary White, 8 Louisa White, 7 Eliza White, 5 George White, 3 Elijah White, 2 ---------------------------- 1860 Starke, New River County, Florida Census - 457 - Enumerated 29 June: All household members born in Georgia. Robert F. White, 41, carpenter, value of real estate/700, value of personal estate/200 Thadeus W. White, 21, carpenter, value of personal estate/40 Eliza White, 14 George W. White, 12 Elijah M. White, 10 Lavina M. White, 8 Louis M. White, 7 Walter F. White, 4 (My note: Since Susan is not with the family, she must have died between the time of Walter's birth and before the 1860 census was taken.) -------------------------- On the 1870 Florida census, I found a man named W.K.T. White age 31 born GA with a daughter named Susan E. White age 10 months old. Census says she was born in October (1869) in GA. Is Susan your ancestor perhaps? They were enumerated with a Swaringer family. (my note: might be Thaddeus' father) A Private Sergeant White, W.R.T. (Thaddeus W.?) A Private Private CONFEDERATE FLORIDA TROOPS 10th Regiment, Florida Infantry 10th Infantry Regiment was assembled in June, 1864. It was formed by consolidating six companies of the 1st and four of the 2nd Florida Infantry Battalions. Some of the men were from Alachua and Putnam counties. Attached to General Finegan's Brigade, the regiment was active at Cold Harbor, then participated in the long Petersburg siege south of the James River and in the Appomattox Campaign. It surrendered with the Army of Northern Virginia with 18 officers and 154 men. Its commanders were Colonel Charles F. Hopkins, Lieutenant Colonel William W. Scott, and Major John Westcott. -------------------------- Thaddeus' pension application is on the site below (his is number A05275. It is so interesting. Also, Thaddeus' brother George W. White's wife Emily applied for a widow's pension. That number is A01087. I read through it and Thaddeus gave a statement regarding George. http://www.floridamemory.com/Collections/PensionFiles/ --------------------------- Hope some of this helps you with your research....Pauline Notify Administrator about this message?
