Karen,

My great grandfather's name was Augustus Weitz. He married Ellen Farrell. That's all I've been able to find out. The "Carl" I remembered turns out to be Carl A. Weitz. My father didn't know him, but he had a long-standing business in Boston known as "Carl A. Weitz Pork Products." My father remembers him as the only other Weitz in the Boston phone book from the '30s to the '50s. I'm sorry that this information may not be helpful to you. Good luck with your search. Like you, my Mother's family history is extensive and well-documented, as is my father's maternal side. However, I know very little about the origins of my last name. If you come across any information about Augustus Weitz, please pass it along.

Thanks,
Matt
