Weitz Family Genealogy Forum

I'm currently finishing a study of the Weitz family and their ancestors. Starting with Henne (Hans) Weitz, who received in 1456 citizenship in Frankfurt, the family lived here till the 20th century. The Weitz family had an interesting history in Frankfurt. They were patricians, with a coat of arms (a griffin holding three ears of wheat), some of them were mayors of Frankfurt. The oldest ancestors
are merchants, knights, nobles. In the 19th century some of them went all over the world as missionaries of the Herrnhuter Bruedergemeinde. The spelling changes sometimes to Weiz. It seems that there are a lot of Weitz/Weiz descendants in North America. My study goes back to the 12th century, the beginning of Frankfurts archives.
If you are interested, give me an email.
