My great, great grandfather was Christian or Christan Wyss who came from Switzerland in roughly 1857 and eventually landed in Columbus, Ohio. I think he married a Lydia Cobb (Colb?) who was either Amish or Mennonite.
I have heard that Christian changed his name to Weiss at some point. His son, William, then changed the spelling to Wiess. William's granddaugther, Joanna, changed it back to Wyss and now lives in Hawaii (and is my aunt). I would like to find out more information about Christain Wyss' (Weiss) family in Switzerland.
