Searching for info on PETER Weiss, WISE, b. 1753 in Philadelphia,PA (parents not known yet). He moved to LANCASTER County, (close to Lancaster City) abt.1769, at age 16. At 24, he entered Rev. War (3 terms in Milita). Continued living in PA until 7 yrs after the war, then moved to VA for 5 yrs(county unknown),where son Joseph was born in 1790. They then moved into TN where my direct line has remained, although known branches are in TX,IL,Mo,CA,GA+ others.
There apparently was ongoing contact with PA for a period of time after entering TN, as his church records designate him as delegate to PA.
The only relative his Rev. War. Pension Appl. mentions is the son Joseph as he didn't apply until his 80's.
Could anyone tell me how to begin to search for any of Peter's relatives-parents, siblings, spouse, other children in Pennsylvania? How would I find where he lived in VA, where son Joseph was born? Could anyone with access to birth records in Philadelphia do a look-up for me? I'm not familiar with townships and quite painfully inexperienced in this frustating addiction of genealogy. Any help at all would be deeply appreciated.
Is anyone else searching in Lancaster County??
