HI from Pennsylvania I am not positive where Sachen-Weimar was in Germany, but from what I have seen it looks like it was part of Saxony. The only documentation I have is his name listed on the Declaration of Intentions for citizenship, a copy of his naturalization papers which list his name a few different ways on the same paper; Carl Weis, a native of Prussia; and Charles Weis; and also Charles Weise. Looks to me that everytime someone wrote his name they spelled it differently. It states his alien papers were Charles Weis and the Declaration as Charles Weise. I also have his death certificate which has his name as Charles Goodheart Weise. Do you have anyone with the name of WEISE, Weis, or Wise from New Jersey? This is where they settled and had their children. My Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Bitzel was supposedly from Baden. I am relatively new at this genealogy research. There was a Philip Weise that came to NJ around 1738 and setled in German Valley, Washington Twp, NJ; his father was John Philip Weise. This may be coincidental but this family of Weises settled in the same Township as my Great Grandparents. Any help you could give would be appreciated, and if there is any connection with anyone in your book, I would be happy to purchase a copy. Hope to hear from you soon.
