I do not have Johan Weber born as early as 1690 from Rifferswil, however, I do have Johannes Weber born 1720 who was from Rifferswil and who emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1739, in case this helps. His parents were Jakob Weber and Veronika Weiss. All this from Zurich State Archives.
Jakob Weber was from Unter-Rifferschweil while his wife Veronika Weiss was from nearby Herferswil, Mettmenstetten. She was the daughter of Ulrich Weiss and Katharina Schneebeli of Herferswil. Jakob and Veronika lost three of their seven known children to early death, a common occurrence in those days. As was traditional, they used the same Christian names again for a new-born child in honor of a child lost perhaps through emigration as well as through death (as in the case of son Johannes who was the first to emigrate to America). One brother by the same name and one brother born after Johannes died young. Rifferschweil is of course spelled Rifferswil today, and is located about 10 to 12 miles south of Zurich along the Reuss River and west of the Albiss Mountains which separates Rifferswil from Lake Zurich (Zurichsee).
Surviving son Johannes Weber was b. 14 Apr 1720, and emigrated to Philadelphia while two of his brothers, Jacob and Heinrich went to Charleston, SC. Johannes' name appeared on an emigration list with others from Rifferswil bound for America on 28 Apr (the group eventually departing in May) 1739 a few months prior to his brothers Henrich and Jakob who left in August 1739. Johannes' party from Rifferswil arrived in Philadelphia on the ship Lydia on 11 Dec 1739 Johannes and kinsman Ulrich Weber are both listed, as are the men of the neighboring Frick, Grob, Bär and Schleipffer families who had left Rifferswil with them.
I have not traced Jonannes Weber but would like information as to any of his descendants. His brothers who settled in Saxe Gotha Township, SC have been traced rather extensively. The name of course has been Anglicized to Weaver. I am happy to exchange information with anyone researching these families from Rifferswil.
