I have been working on the NC & related Weist/Weast/Wease for several years now. The family group I think that you are speaking of would be Charles D. Weast who married Malinda Newton? They had a son Summie Andrew Weast who is most likely your ancestor. Charles D. Weast (name of most Cleveland Co. Weast eventually went to WEASE), is the son of John "Jacob" Leonard Weast & Susannah Dykes/Dycus of Rutherford Co., NC. When Jacob died many of his children moved to Lawndale in Cleveland Co. due to a textile mill being there where they could find work. Jacob Weast was the out of wedlock son of Catherine Weast b. abt. 1800 & Thomas Hutchins. Catherine (Caty) was the daughter of John Jacob Weist & Mary Yearwood/Earwood who married in Rutherford Co., NC in 1794. Please email me so we can exchange info. I have a few years to go but eventually hope to compile a family history and have a lot of info on the NC Wease.
