I made 2 TYPOs I was in such hurry to transcribe to get this information on the net in hopes someone would respond ! The first TYPO was with the dates. As written in the Affidavit that Elizabeth MOSES (Maiden name unknown) swore under oath to : "Record of Death To whom it may concern, This is to certifiy that the following deaths appears of record in the family bible kept by & in the custody of Elizabeth B. KEACH, widow of George W. KEACH, is that the same appear to be original. George H. WARD. died at sea on the 11th day of September AD 1845. Benjamin MOSES died on the 17th day of March year 1850. Almira BRIGGS KEACH wife of George W. KEACH died on the 4th day of November 1846 ('46' is underlined) State of Rhode Island s.s Co. of Washington On this 10th day of May AD 1889. Personally appeared before me the above named Elizabeth B. KEACH, custodian of the record aforesaid & made oath to the correctness of the same as to her best knowledge & belief. (signed) Joseph T. Nethwp Notary Public " ALSO IN ANOTHER AFFIDAVIT: " ..that she was lawfully married to the said George W. KEACH under the name of Elizabeth B. MOSES at Foster R.I. on the 29th day of October 1861 by the Rev. Arnold Howard, there being no legal bearer to such marriage that the said George W. KEACH had been previously married to Almira BRIGGS who died on the 4th day of November 1846 (by whom he had no children)..." ======================================================================================= ======================================================================================= HERE is the 2nd typo: and the family was broken up many years ago ... In George W. Keach's File he states that he was married to Elizabeth B. Moses In George W. Keach's File he states that he was married 2 times, once to Almira Briggs and then to Elizabeth B. Moses, but he, also claims to HAVE NO CHILDREN FROM EITHER MARRIAGE !! I figure that either a) he is lying (and the Transcribed AFFIDAVIT below might help understand why George W. Keach would have lied about having no children with either Almira Briggs or Elizabeth Moses) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This ought to read "SHE" (Elizabeth MOSES) claims to HAVE NO CHILDREN FROM EITHER MARRIAGE. What I meant to write is that in the process to applying for her 3rd dead husband's Military Pension (George KEACH) Elizabeth MOSES (Maiden name unknown) swore, under oath -- and was written Affidavit -- that her 3rd husband, George KEACH had NO CHILDREN from his former marriage to Almira BRIGGS and no children from his marriage with her. Anyone wishing to see the actual document e-mail me off the board and I will send you a jpg copy of that particular page. Of what I have read I am VERY SUSPITIOUS of Elizabeth MOSES (Maiden name ???) sorry for the confusion. WITH THAT SAID.... Here is why I am suspitious of Elizabeth MOSES; the following General Affidavit was found in the Rhode Island Military Pension Files of my ancestor, George H. KEACH. He speaks of a "distasteful woman" that his father married after the death of his mother. He also speaks of a family Bible that he does not know its whereabouts ... and in Elizabeth MOSES's testimony she speaks of a family bible. Maybe I am wrong, but I think it it possible that Elizabeth MOSES (Maiden name NOT KNOWN) wrote WARD over KEACH... George H. Ward from George H. Keach ? George H. Keach was searching for his specific date of birth. ELIZABETH LIED AT LEAST TWICE BEFORE !!! I HAVE THE FOLLOWING RECORD THAT I TRANSCRIBED FROM A RHODE ISLAND ACHIVAL RECORD: Marriages By Groom 1854 - 1878 Rhode Island KEACH and MOSES I found the following at the Rhode Island State Archives and Public Records Admin. building at 337 Westminster St., Providence, Rhode Island.
