Paula, I went to Clayton Library yesterday to research the Coleman family. I found a book "Coleman KIN" by Emily A Croom. I guess you are wondering what this has to do with the Terrys. Dianna Coleman married John Williams. Their son William Williams, Sr. married Lucy Terry. Here is what I found on Grissel Coleman who is probably a relative of my Lucy Terry. Grissel Coleman received a grant for land in Goochland County, Va along both sides of Little Buffloe Creek, a branch of Willis River. Adjoining Daniel Terry, and Henry Cary. Other neighbors of Grissel were Thomas Christian (I am descended from this man through another line more on him later), and James Terry. In December of 1739, the Goochland County Court ordered that Thomas Harvey, James Terry, and Henry Terry visit the lands of Grissel Coleman to put a valuation on the improvements. The details were laid before us by Daniel Coleman, father of the above Grissell. Daniel Coleman of King and Queen County, Va, was a son of Robert of Mobjack Bay, Gloucester county, Va. I don't have his wife's name. Jointly with Samuel Williams, Daniel Coleman acquired 600 acres on Herring Creek in newly formed King and Queen County on April 23, 1703 for the transportation of 12 People to the colonies. None of their names are given. The grant described the location of the land as beginning at the mouth of the deviding branch, then by the Middle Herring Creek, between Williams, and Bubbo's plantation. His son Daniel Coleman, Jr. had land adjoining John Williams, who is probably the husband of Dianna Coleman. The elder Daniel Coleman had property near Thomas Christian who's wife was Lucy Bradley. I will have to do some checking on my Christian line to see if any of them married Terry or Colemans. I am pretty certain your line is descended from some of these Virginia Terry. Do you have any Coleman's in your family tree? Notify Administrator about this message?
