On the 1900 Jackson Co AL census, my Hugh/Uriah Crosby/Cosby is shown with new, 2nd wife, Mary M. She is believed to be Mary Ferguson. Also shown is her son, James E. Terry, born 1881 TN.
I started looking for this Terry family to see if I could learn more about the Crosby/Cosby family and on the 1910 Hardin Co TN census, I found a James E Terry, age 29 b TN and wife, Lermia, age 18 born TN, with a child shown as Evial or Eva Terry, born 1909 TN. The spelling is horrible on this census, so I'm guessing.
In 1920 Hardin Co, TN, I found a James Terry born TN ca 1886 with wife, Lona, born TN c 1895. They had children: Eva, born ca 1909 TN; May born ca 1911 TN; Gertrude, born ca 1918 TN & Lena, born ca 1919 TN.
Next door was a Lawer? Terry, age 40, single, born TN; sister, Clara or Gloria? age 32 born TN; sister, Etta age 31 born TN & brother, Orvil age 10 born TN. That's a lot of age difference but that is what the census record shows.
