I am looking to communicate with anybody who has documented and proven descent from the Thomas Taylour (Taylor) who was created a Baronet of Ireland on 12 June 1704. He married Ann Cotton.
One of his descendants (a grandson) was Sir. Thomas Taylour, born 1724 who was created the Baron Headfort, of Headfort, County Meath in 1762. He was also created Earl of Bective (Castle) in 1766.
One of his sons, was Henry Edward Taylor (1768-1852). His son was Thomas Edward Taylor of Ardgilian Castle, County Dublin (1811-1883). He had two sons, Edward Richard Taylour (of Ardgilian Castle) and Basil Reginald Hamilton Taylour.
Sir Thomas Taylour's son, Thomas Taylour, was the first Marquess (Marquis) of Headfort and inherited the title of Earl of Bective. According to heraldry records available to me, this title was inherited from eldest son to eldest son to Sir Thomas Geoffrey Charles Michael Taylour, the 6th Marquess of Headfort and Earl of Bective (b. 1932). He had a son Thomas Michael Ronald Christorper Taylour, born 10 Feb. 1959. He also had the title Earl of Bective.
I am trying to prove (or disprove) a rumor that my Taylor ancestors descend from the Headfort Taylors or their earlier lineage based upon a ring suppossedly worn by my ancestor which contained the Headfort Taylour/Taylor Crest (a naked right arm, bent at the elbow, grasping an arrow) with the Motto, "Quodconque Petit." I am acquainted with two other Taylor researchers that have this Crest on placeware that has been handed down in their family, one living in Canada and the other living in Australia who would like to prove or disprove their Headfort Taylour/Taylor connection.
