I went to the library today and I came across Cicero Sweatt. His father was Rev. Nathan Sweatt who was murdered by the Confederate Soldiers during the war. The Confederate's did not confess to killing him. He had been in jail for several weeks and all the townspeople would visit him everyday. It was said he was the kindest man you would ever meet. One day the townspeople went to visit him and he wasn't there and nobody would say where he was. The townspeople thought he may have been murdered and asked the army leader and he finally told them he was on his way the the Carthage jail because they feared the people were going to break him out of jail. One townsperson went to Carthage and Nathan wasn't there. The army leader then said that he was on his way somewhere else. Some fishermen found him floating in the Yockanookany River a few days later. He had been hung and someone tied a 30 pound block to him. Cicero died at Dwiggins, MS. Dwiggings is located in Sunflower Co, MS. I found this information at the Attala County Library. I thought maybe this was your Cicero. (It's kind of an odd name.) Hope this helps you.
