Petition to Alter the Boundary Between Brunswick & Greensville Counties, Virginia
Dated October 17th , 1787
The petition of sundry of the inhabitants of the county of Brunswick humbly sheweth:
That: the line as it now runs between the county of Greensville and this county on the south side of Meherin River places your petitioners in a very inconvenient situation with respect to their attending musters and other business necessary to be transacted at the courthouse, the distance they having to travel thither being nearly double the number of miles they should have to go were their plantations added to the county of Greensville. They therefore pray that the said line on the south side of the Meherin River may be altered and one run beginning on the North Carolina line six miles west of the place where the line now strikes it and from thence a straight course to Meherin where the line now crosses that river. And they as in duty bound shall pray:
