I have an original four generation photograph of “Richard & Jane Swank, with son (hard to read), his daughter Carrie & grandson”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo was taken about 1910, in South Bend (St. Joseph Co.) IN, and Richard and Jane look to be in about their mid-70s. Son looks about 50, while Carrie is about 25, and the great grandson of Richard and Jane is about age 5 or 6.
I did census research and found Richard and Jane with son Nathaniel in 1860 in Cass Co., IN. By 1880, family lived in Galien (Berrien Co.) MI, where they are listed in 1920, 1910 and 1900 censuses – where Richard’s DOB is Sep 1831 and Jane’s Apr 1836.. Nathaniel is in Galien 1900 census with DOB Feb 1851, living with wife Sarah and daughter Carry (Sep 1882).
Per 1920 census, Carrie was Carrie Sebasty, age 37 and a widow, living with her parents, and her son Leslie, age 16, dau. Alice 15, and son Louie, 8. SSDI shows Leslie (obviously the boy in the photo) was born 23 Dec 1903 and died Aug 1980 in St. Joseph Co., IN.
