Vestry minutes, page 109, show that St. James Parish was previously known as Herring Creeke Parish. The land records found at the Maryland Hall of Records in Annapolis show that land grants were made in the Herring Creeke Hundred in 1651, 1659, 1663, and after. St. James’ Church is even now called Herring Creeke Church.

Page 469 (43): Sarah, daughter of James Stone was born ffebry the 11 1714, bap. April 11th 1714
