Ron,

Jesse R. Steed, Sr. did have a son Thomas Jefferson Steed, but he was born in 1805. According to the information I have, Jesse Sr. did not marry until 1789, so it is unlikely that the Thomas Steed you've found is a son to Jesse Sr.. It is possible that this Thomas is a brother to Jesse Sr., but I have no information on that. My information suggests that John Steed is the father of Jesse Sr., but I have no knowledge of another other possible children, although it is reasonable to assume that there were other children.

In the 1775 Dunmore census of Shenandoah Co., VA, on Campbell's List, I have the following:
John Steed
1 WM over age 16
1 WM under age 16
2 WF no age
