Leroy Stacy, 66, Big Stone Gap, VA, of the Oreton
community, passed away Friday, June 10, 2009, at Holston
Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN.
He was born in West Virginia and lived most of his life in
Appalachia and Big Stone Gap, VA. He was a coal miner with
the Westmoreland Coal Company. Leroy was of the Baptist
faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ollie
Keen Stacy; a brother, Roger Stacy; and a sister, Sue
Starnes.
Surviving are one daughter, Victoria Mabe, of Big Stone
Gap, VA; one son, Leroy Stacy, Jr. and wife, Mary Jo of
Big Stone Gap, VA; six grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica,
Brandon, Leann, Tela Stacy, and Royce Mabe; four great-
grandchildren, Macie Matheison, Luke Barnett, Jodee Stacy,
and Alex Caruso; one brother, Danny Stacy and wife, Betty
of Appalachia, VA; one sister, Donna Seabolt of Big Stone
Gap, VA; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his
children, Alice Stacy of Stonega, VA.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday,
July 12, 2009, at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m., Sunday, July
12, 2009, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tony
Nunley officiating.
Committal services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July
13, 2009, at American Legion Cemetery. Family and friends
will meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., to go in
procession to the cemetery.
