Now this is giving me a headache.

Irene Gilbert, William's mother, is listed as having been born in WV.

In the 1900 census William Melvin Spears is listed as living with his parents J S and R A Marple, and I found a WV record for the marriage of James Marple and Rebecca Gilbert in 1872.

Wonder if it's possible that Irene is Rebecca's daughter...? This is driving me nuts.
