I think we are on to something! After George Spears died in 1833/34, I find his widow, Elizabeth Miller Spears in the 1850 Union,LAWRENCE, OH Census as head of household with her children: Henry Spears a. 21, Kinah a. 19, and David a. 16 (my great, great grandfather).

DAVID Spears married Sarah Ross btw. 1856-1858. This family moved around a bit:
In 1860 they were in Lawrenceburg, Dearborn, IN and had two children: George W. Spears a. 1 (my great grandfather) and Miranda J. Spears a. 3 months

In 1870 DAVID Spears and family were in Hopewell, Marshall, IL with four more children: Emma, Sarah, Mary and David.

By 1880, they were back in Fayette, Lawrence, OH and had three more children: Ella, Annie, and William Frank.

I believe DAVID Spears served in the 126th Regiment OH Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War for 3 years from 1864.

I found DAVID Spears' grave in a cemetery near Ironton, OH.

Are any of these people part of your line?
