I am descended from John Spears, born about 1785. I was given some info some years ago that I can't verify at this time, that lists his father as Peter Spears, born about 1760 in VA, died after 1840 in Lawrence Co., Ohio. I have no name for his wife, but there was a list of children: John, b. about 1785 d. after 1850 Logan Co., (W)VA; James, b. abt. 1782; Elizabeth, b. abt. 1784; Susanna, b. abt. 1786; Jonathan, b. abt. 1788; Charles, b. abt. 1790; Henry, b. abt. 1794; Paul, b. abt. 1796; an Unknown, b. bef. 1795; Peter, b. abt. 1800; William, b. abt. 1801; and Rosannah, b. abt. 1808.

I also have Peter Sr.'s father as Thomas Speer, born before 1738 on Somerset Co., Maryland, died before December December 2, 1796 in Surry Co., North Carolina. His mother is shown as Rebecca Estep, born about 1738. There is a brother listed as Spencer Speer, born before 1760.

Now, how accurate this is would be anybody's guess. But it's all I have seen so far and if anyone can show proof or dis-proof of this, I'd be glad to see it, because I want to get it right. Like I said, this is secondhand info and I've not been able to verify it yet. At this time, I'm trying to unravel some things a few generations down the line.

I hope this may help in some way.
