The generations of the Sobieskies 1.) Mikolaj Sobieski. 2.) Stanislaw Sobieski. 3.) Sebastyan Sobieski (ca. 1486-1557). Married with Barbara Gielczewska. 4.) Jan Sobieski (1518/20-1564). Married with Zofia Gdeszynska (1531/32-1600). 5.) Marek Sobieski (1549/50-1605), Wojewode of Lublin. Married with Jadwiga Snopkowska (1556/59-1589). 6.) Jakub Sobieski (ca. 1580-1646), Kastellan (burggrave) of Krakau. Married with Zofia Teofila Danilowicz (1607-1661). 7.) King John III. Sobieski of Poland (1629-1696). Married with Marie Casimire Louise de la Grange (1641-1716). 8.) Jakub Ludwik Sobieski (1667-1737). Married with Hedwig Elisabeth Princess of the Palatinate (1673-1722). Jakub´s sister Teresa Kunegunda Sobeska (1676-1730) was the mother of Emperor Charles VII. 9.) Maria Klementyna Sobieska (1702-1735). She married Prince James Francis Edward Stuart of England (1688-1766), Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, Earl of Chester, named the "Old Pretender". 10.) Charles Edward Stuart ("Bonnie Prince Charlie") (1720-1788), "Prince of Wales". His brother Henry Benedict Stuart (1725-1807), Duke of York, was Cardinal. After Henry´s death the Stuart claim to the throne passed to the Royal House of Savoy and then to the House of Wittelsbach. 11.) Lady Charlotte Stuart (1753-1789), "Duchess of Albany", was Bonnie´s illegitimate daughter, but he legitimated her in 1784. She was the mistress of Archbishop Ferdinand Prince de Rohan and had three children. They were illegitimate and therefore had no rights to the succession to the throne. 12.) James Stuart (ca. 1773-1852), Count d´Albanie, was one of them. He was adopted by Admiral John Carter Allen as baby. About 1811 the secret of his descent from the Stuarts was revealed to him. In 1843 the Victome d´ Arlincourt first published his claim to royal ancestry. Sons: 13 a) John Sobieski Stuart (1797-1872). 13 b) Charles Edward Stuart (1799-1880), Count d´Albanie. The two "Sobieski Stuarts" were famous writers and had written "Vestiarium Scoticum" (1842), "Costumes of the Clans" (1843), "Tales of the Century" (1847), "Lays of the Deer forest" (1848) and "Poems"). The "Vestiarium Scoticum" was the first book to be published with tartan plates and this lead to a host of other similar books during the second half of the 19th century. 14 a) Charles Edward Stuart (1824-1882), Count d´Albanie, Colonel in the Austrian army, son of 14b), married with Lady Alice Emily Mary Hay (1835-1881), daughter of the 18th Earl of Erroll and granddaughter of King William IV.of England. 14 b) Louise Sobieska Stuart (1827-1897), daughter of 14a), was presumable the mistress of Fieldmarshall Edmund Prinz (Prince) zu Schwarzenberg and married Eduard von Platt, Rittmeister (Captain) of the Austrian imperial bodyguards. Her son: 15.) Carl Sobieski zu Schwarzenberg, son of 14b). His son: 16.) Adolf Sobieski zu Schwarzenberg (1901-1955). He married Leokadia Prinzessin (Princess) zu Schwarzenberg. Their daughter: 17.) Karin Sobieski zu Schwarzenberg (1946).
