Barb. I think I just replied to a message on the Sexsmith forum. On this question, from my connections with the Sixsmith families in Ireland, (see my other message) the name came from England, which their land of origin. The name means sicyl maker (sp) which meant they made swords etc. There were far more than a couple that migrated to Ontario. If you check the 1851-61-71-81-91 & 1901 Canadian Census, you will discover there were quite a few. I have them in my data base and would love to share this info with you.
I just checked my data base and I don't have any of those mentioned. Did your information on them come from family bibles or your parents? This may be a link.
Thanks Barbara Taylor
