Batavia (Illinois) Herald, Jan. 31, 1935 St. Charles Woman Dies; One of Early Fox Valley Pioneers Mrs. Millie R. Sibley, 77, widow of Charles Sibley, whose family was prominent in the development of St. Charles since its founding over 100 years ago, died Monday at her home there. For many years Mrs. Sibley was active in the woman's relief corps of the G.A.R. She was first president of the St. Charles chapter and was well known in Batavia and Geneva, where she organized relief corps groups. She also held offices in the state organization. Mrs. Sibley was married in the early 1870's and went with her husband to Kansas. From Kansas they drove by overland freighter to the Indian territory. They returned later to Illinois and in 1900 again took up residence in St. Charles. Surviving are three children, Mrs. Maude Parker of Chicago, Mrs. Grace Godfrey of Burlington and Fred of Sycamore. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Norris chapel. Burial was in North cemetery. ---------- This newspaper item posted as a courtesy.
