Hi Karen,

George Champlain Sibley b. Apr 1782 Great Barrington, MA and d. 31 Jan 1863 Elma, St. Charles Co., MO. Explorer, employee of the Indian Bureau during Jefferson's administration and founder of Lindenwood College, St. Charles, MO.

Don't have documention but sure he was a Freemason and a member of either the St. Louis or St. Charles, MO Lodge. Quickest way to find out is to e-mail - found on the net - the Grand Lodge of MO Research Dept., dedicated to researching notable historic Masons.

Hope this helps.
