Charles, A relative of Pleasant Moore Sibley sent me this information:
John G. Sibley is found in Wayne County, MS in the 1820 census. He is married with 2 sons under 10 years and a daughter under 10 years. He and his wife are between 16 and 26 years.(There's a possibility that John Sibley, born in 1794 in Wayne County, MS is this same John G Sibley.) There are land records mentioning John G Sibley's wife as Mary Marlow. Also in the 1820 Wayne Co. census is a John Marlow and his wife, ages 45+ and living next to the John G Sibley family - Mary's parents?
The 1830 Copiah Co. census shows John G Sibley with 3 males under 10 years, 1 female under 10 years 1 female 10-20 years and he and his wife are 20-40 years. There are land records for this time for John G Sibley, John M Sibley and Anderson B Sibley all owning in the same section (#34T2R1W) in Copiah Co. MS. John Marlow owns land nearby.
Records also show that John G Sibley was a Minister of the Gospel (Methodist)and he performed many marriages in Copiah Co. in 1829-1839.
1840 Copiah Co. census has John G Sibley, 2 males under 10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 15-20, 1 female under 10, 1 female 15-20. John G Sibley is 40-50 and his wife is 30-40. A son, John M. (Marlow?) Sibley is married at this time.
John M Sibley sold some property including slaves, obviously inherited by his wife, Sarah Swinney. John M and Sarah later are in Covington Co. MS in litigation concerning that estate. John M Sibley died in August 1844 and Sarah Swinney Sibley died a few days later. They left children - Melissa Ann Sibley, John Cyrus Sibley, and Mary Ann Sibley.
A brother of John M, Charles Cook Sibley, also of Covington Co. applied to be administrator of the estate of John M and Sarah. Apparently was denied.
A record shows that John G Sibley was a Mason in the Williamsburg Lodge in Covington Co. John G seems to be dead by 1846.
In 1846, Pleasant Moore Sibley, aged 18 years, signed a marriage bond for his sister, Mary Jane Sibley when she married Madison Grantham in St. Tammany Parish Louisiana. If his father, John G Sibley were alive, he would have been the person to sign a marriage bond.
In 1850, Lawrence Co, MS, Pleasant Moore Sibley is married with 1 child, William Allen Sibley. Living next door is Mary Sibley, born in NC, a widow, 50 years old. In her household are: G.G. Sibley (Gabriel Garrison Sibley)- 21 years,S.F. Sibley (probably Sarah Sibley) - female, 16 years, M.A. Sibley - female, 11 years, John C Sibley - male 9 years, and M.A. Sibley - female, 7 years. These are undoubtedly Melissa Ann Sibley, John Cyrus Sibley and Mary Ann Sibley, children of her deceased son John M Sibley.

Children of John G Sibley and Mary Marlow:
John M Sibley - married Sarah Swinney
Pleasant Moore Sibley - b. 11/4/1827. married Harriet G Allen
Mary Jane Sibley - 7/9/1828 - 8/10/1910, married Madison Grantham, 1846; Charles Henry Hart.

Charles Cook Sibley - 2/24/1817, Amite Co. MS. d. 4/3/1882, Livingston Parish, LA. married Elizabeth L Hornsby.
Robert Andrew Sibley - 11/11/1822, Wayne Co. MS, Methodist minister, married Elvira J.?
Anderson Beckner Sibley
Silas Sibley
Elizabeth (Betty) Sibley - married ? Tyler
Sarah (Sally) Sibley

Obituary in the New Orleans Christian Advocate, a Methodist publication, for Mary Sibley of Pike Co. MS, died 12/3/1868;She was the mother of 7 sons and 3 daughters, all living except the oldest and youngest sons. The obit is signed by R A Sibley. This could be Mary Marlow Sibley and Robert Andrew Sibley.
Anne McGuire.
