Dear Anne,

Sorry for the late response. I cannot confirm that your Gabriel Garrison Sibley is or is not a brother of Pleasant Moore. The information that you found on EBR Parish is certainly Pleasant and his wife Harriet. They did in fact have a son named James; so, the thought that the James in the census was a grandson is certainly plausible.

There is a second Sibley line that was based in Amite County. John G. was living in Copiah County as a farmer; whereas, John Sibley, Sr. was living in Amite County as a Slaveholder. I don't have any basis to beleive that they are related.

In both cases, there children worked their way into Louisiana. Pleasant Moore moved to Clio. John, Jr. moved to, I think, the Alexandria area.

In either case, it creates a bit of a mess in trying to determine the correct lineage.

I appreciate the 1900 census information as it really helps me in continuing to find the elusive father of John G. Sibley.

Thanks,

Whit
