This Mary Elizabeth SIBLEY who married Thomas WALTERS in 1778 is my own G-5 grandma, but we can't figure out who her parents were. Scotland? Halifax Co., Virginia? Anybody know?

Coincidentally, from the other side of my family, I have an ancestor named Damaris SIBLEY (daughter of Richard & Hannah Sibley), who presumably married Samuel SHATTUCK, in 1631 at Cape Ann, Essex Co., Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Here's a question to anyone who knows Sibley history:

Does it seem likely that this early American line of Sibleys was the same family?
