Julie - Starting on p.1503 and ending with a bibliography of sources on P.1509 of James Scarborough Sibley's "The Sibley Family in America", is the family of Jacob Zubli (the u has an umlaut over it). Jacob was born in 1650. The initial text reads: "This family was living in Berne, Switzerland, as early as 1537. During the various religious upheavals in the 16th and 17th centuries some of the family moved to the Low Countries and on to America, settling in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Delaware and Georgia. The name evolved from Zubli to Zubley to Zebley to Zibley and to Sibley."
I don't know if any of them are your family, but it may be worth a try.
Good hunting.
Barbara
