Sibley changed to Zebley?

Does anyone know anything about a Charles Zebley changing his last name from SIBLEY to Zebley sometime in the very late 1800's? (around 1870/1890?)

We have been told that my husbands ggGrandfather use to tell a story about how he changed his last name to ZEBLEY because he use to work for a place called something like SIBLEY & everyone was getting him confussed with the company.

I know this is sketchy information but this is all we have & we don't have much more on Charles Zebley either. We can't seem to connect him anywhere but here is what we do have.

Charles Zebley (b abt 1860/1885) came from Delaware, married a PA woman by the name of Mary CASEY. (d 1961) They had 2 children: Charles J. Zebley & Elizabeth Helen Zebley. All from PA.
Charles Zebley left home early because of an abusive father. When he married Mary, he wanted to put the 2 children in a home. Mary kicked him out instead.

If anyone has any information that can link the 2 names spellings or stories together, please email me. We are at such a loss.

Thank you,
Julie
