Hi Angela I have a tree of the Alvaston/Boulton Sherwins I've put together mainly from the IGI and the census, but also from some other bits and pieces (there are a few people on genesreunited related to Sherwins from Alveston and Boulton). If your George is Henry George Sherwin born in 1812 to Jonathan Sherwin and Esther Beeston, then I think I can trace him back to Jonathan Sherwin born 03 Dec 1671 (no parents listed on IGI) There is a George Sherwin listed on the 1666 Alvaston/Boulton Hearth Tax, which must be the father of Elizabeth born in 1666 (and probably the Johnathan I mentioned above). Further back than this is difficult. There were Sherwins in Wilne in the 1500s and also in Longford/Rodsley. Interesting that Susan Sherwin was married at Dalbury, my 5th Great grandfather John Sherwin (Sherwin was my mothers maiden name) who lived at Mackworth was (most likely) married in Dalbury in 1738. This is the earliest record I have of him and cannot find where he was born. I suspect that it was Longford in 1710, but can't prove it. This would make him related to St Ralph Sherwin. Strangely I have found I am related to St Ralph but down a female line.(I guess they all married locally then!) Anyway I'll have a look at all my info and see if I ca come up with anything to help you. Frances Notify Administrator about this message?
