Hi there I spent a long time today going through the census and the IGI (pulling out all the Boulton and Alvaston Sherwins). George Sherwin married to Elizabeth definitely was born in Boulton. He says as much on every census, whereas George born in Alvaston was unmarried in 51 and 61, and yes, was lodging with the other George in 61. Elizabeth his wife was born in Repton. Two of their children (the oldest two) were baptised in Alvaston. Alvaston and Boulton are no distance from one another so I would assume a lot of movement. There are also a few Sherwins in Elvaston (but not many). I've now noted down all the Sherwins, as i said, in Boulton and Alvaston and when I've got them into some kind of order will be happy to share. btw George Sherwin from Boulton could be Henry George Sherwin born in 1812 (date fits) to Jonathan Sherwin and Esther Beeston. This Henry doesn't feature anywhere else, but then I've failed to turn up a marriage for George either other than those previously mentioned. Sherwins do seem to have been in Boulton since the 17th century, the earliest being an Elizabeth to (oddly) George and Elizabeth in 1666. I'm pleased that they came from Derbyshire as some of my ancestors seemed to have got about a bit. Susan Sherwin married Aaron Bryan from Dalbury Lees. The Bryans seem to have been a Derbyshire family too so that makes me very happy indeed. They were good honest (I hope) country people. Yippee! Angela Notify Administrator about this message?
