Hi Graeme,
I am not sure if we have emailed each other but I have found the link between the Burslem and Tasmanian Sherwins.
This family was descended from Peter Sherwin and Mary (nee Doxie) from Prestbury, Cheshire.
Peter followed his son Thomas to live in Burslem. Several members of the Sherwins went to Tasmania.
I have a book entitled "The early days of the Sherwin family of Sherwood, Bothwell, Tasmania and Alice Place, Launceston" by Ann Fysh which explains the link.
