I have just hiked the Sherwin Crest in Mammoth Valley California. There is everything Sherwin out there. Sherwin Crest, Summit, Mountain, Lakes, Grade Road, Creek, Creek Road, Cafe and even a Shopping Center named for us. No joke, we're everywhere!!
It turns out all this is a result of one James Leander Cathcart Sherwin who went out there about 1850 from Cincinnati, Ohio. I learned this from Richard "Dick" Sherwin who is the best keeper of Sherwin records I know. I sent him an email to see if this man was related and Dick confirms that he is related to me back about three generations. I live in Cleveland, Ohio.
