Sherwin : Burslem (Staffs) to Victoria (Australia)

My 3gts grandmother was Sophia Sherwin, chr Burslem 9 1 1825. She was 3rd of 5 children of Josiah Sherwin & Sarah or Sophia (possibly Brown). Josiah was chr Burslem 15 1 1797 and was 6th of 9 children of Thomas Sherwin & Sarah Stevenson. Thomas & Sarah were married Newcastle under Lyme 14 2 1786.

Now, Sophia married George Clarke of Yorkshire at Stoke upon Trent 4 10 1857 and migrated with her then small family on the Great Britain in Aug 1862.

In my researches I came across another Sherwin family based mainly in Tasmania, and which I think has its origins with John Sherwin & Mary Brindley, which couple I have seen named in this forum.

I am looking for three things:

Firstly, any (hitherto unknown to me) descendants of George Clarke and Sophia Sherwin. I would really like to get in touch.

Secondly, information which may prove or disprove a link between the Burslem family and the Tasmanian one.

Thirdly, any other descendants of the Burslem family not necessarily in Australia.

email : ozzygjo@optusnet.com.au

Thanks in anticipation.

Graeme
