Shaver Family Genealogy Forum

A Shaver family arrived in Ontario abt. 1795 and reportedly came from N. Jersey. I believe there were 3 males, possibly brothers. Barnet was b. 1762, John b. abt. 1767, and Wm. b. abt. 1769. The surname was sometimes shown as a variation of Schaffer. "Barnet" was an unusual name and may have been his middle name or even a nickname, or it could have been a surname used as a given name. I thought that this unusual name would make finding them easier but, unfortunately, it hasn't. John & Wm. were very common names. I think they came from Sussex Co. as there were many who came from there to Ontario after the Revolution. However, it appears that Barnet & John served in the militia from Lebonon, Hunterdon Co. circa 1793. Thanks for any help you may be able to give me in finally locating this family in N. Jersey!
