Daniel Shaffer, son of Jacob who was born in 1728 and died in 1815, married Anna Hudlow 18 Feb 1783 in Shenandoah. He was born in Berks, PA in 1759 plus or minus a year or two. His mother was not Ottila Schmidt, but Catherine Delaplanck who died prior to 1767 when Jacob married his second wife Ottilla. Daniel moved to Montgomery County, Va (later Wythe) in 1787, living next to his brother John who had moved there in 1785. Frederick, a third brother, moved to Montgomery the following year, 1788. Daniel left Wythe in 1809 enroute to Wayne County, Indiana where he purchased property in 1812.

So your Daniel was another Daniel and based on his marriage date to Catherine Michael (1803) he appears to be 20 or so years younger than Jacob's son Daniel and probably had a sister Elizabeth who married John Michael the same year he married Catherine.

Unless he was son of Jacob Shaffer Jr, the son of the 1728 Shenandoah Jacob, I would suggest you look at the Rockingham Shaffers for your Daniel's father and/or grand father: George Frederick Shaffer who died after 1792; Nicholas Shaffer who died after 1805; or Palser Shaffer who died after 1815. Just curious, where did Adam Starks and Hannah Shaffer make their home?
