Early family members I believe were in the Washington, Perry, and Chapman township areas. Many of them are buried in the cemetery at Grubb's Church. I know my great-grandfather Joseph H. Shaffer, husband of Katie [Heintzelman?] is buried there. His father's name was also Joseph but I have no record of his middle name. He was married first to Elizabeth [Comfort] and later to Susan [Herrold] who was Joseph H.'s mother. His grandfather was John, Jr. [I have no record of his middle name] who married Margaret [no record of her last name]. His great-grandfather, according to one account, was also named John, and again I don't have record of his middle name either. One account has him being married to a woman named Polly, but another account lists her name as Anna Maria [Reichenbach]. According to the back of an old photo, Joseph H. at some point acquired the family farm from his great-grandfather, John, Sr. who had bought the farm when he emigrated from Germany.
