Okay here we go...
Charles Hinton Shafer married Elsie Josephine Brown on 13 Jan 1901 in Greene County, Illinois.
In the 1910 census they are living in Chicago, Cook County. They have 2 boys, Cecil and Charles, ages 8 and 6 respectively.
In the 1920 census, they are living in Chicago, Cook County with 5 children: Cecil, Charles, Marian V., Veronica J., and Eleanor D (2 sons, 3 daughters)
In the 1930 census, they are living in Elmhurst, DuPage County, Illinois. All still in the home but son, Charles.
Elsie Josephine (also went by Josephine) was born Aug 1881, according to the 1900 census.
I don't have anything on Charles Hinton Shafer. When Elsie's mother died in 1912, she was listed as Mrs. Josephine Shafer, wife of Hinton Shafer, of Chicago. In the 1930 census, he was 52 years old
There are a few Charles Shafers/Schafer that died in Cook County. Not sure which one he is or that he is in that index...
From a requested lookup, there was an Elsie Shafer living at 514 W. Cornelia (but she wasn't at that address in '55)... However there was a Schafer, Chas rms 2919 S. Ellis in Chicago but not at that address in '55... I am leaning towards the Elsie Shafer as being mine but again I have nothing to go on...
I checked the IL Death Index for her and found nothing... I am thinking she died post 1950 and pre SSDI on ancestry...
I did find a Cecil Shafer that died Jun 1982 in Stronghurst, Henderson County, Illinois. His birth date was 28 Oct 1901 which would work.
As far as the other children, I am at a loss... Trying to find a marriage for the daughters which hasn't turned out to be the easiest thing but that is what I figured...
Any help on finding the death dates, burial info on Charles and Elsie Josephine would be great... any info on the chidlren also would be great...
Off to search some more...
