Isaiah Shafer Decatur Co IN 7th Reg, Co D, Indian Volunteer Infantry

Trying to find family history and old photos of Isaiah Shafer and family of Decatur Co, IN. We are restoring his home and would love more information.

So far we have. Isaish Shafer b Jan 16, 1841 D May 4, 1887 married Cordelia b Jan 10, 1842 d Mar 12, 1912. They had 7 children, John E, Ada M, Isaiah, Robert, William M, Bertie, and Willie. Isaish's father was Rev John Shafer b Dec 25, 1813 d Apr 11, 1898 who married Ada McCaw d Nov 18, 1876.

Isaish Shafer was a Civil War Union soldier with the 7th Regiment, Co. D, Indiana Volunteer Infantry who was discharged on Sept 16, 1862 at Port Republic. He was wounded at Port Republic and later died from his wounds on May 4, 1887.
